Winter Walk

Winter does have its charms, not the least of which are frozen blue skies and cold sunshine. We were not alone in the woods today; many others had the same idea. We met lots of happy dogs and people.

I spent far too much time looking at knitting patterns and yarn on the internet this afternoon (I also exceeded my five cup of tea limit for the day). My friend Brandy has reminded me that tomorrow is a new day and another chance to do better.   : )

I want to knit a three-season cardigan in a color that will look right in both spring and autumn. I like Runa, but to knit it in a nice yarn will cost a king's ransom. Why must knitting be such an expensive hobby? What if I splurge on a birthday treat for myself and spend $120.00 on yarn, knit the pattern and a) it doesn't fit right, b) the style is not flattering on me, or c) I choose the wrong color? I wonder if other knitters worry about such things before deciding on a sweater-sized (or larger) project?  I love Kristen's Tonal Color Block Blanket, but could not imagine investing embarking on a project of that size (but at least with a blanket you don't have to worry so much about style and fit).

My son said, "Hey, Mom, why don't you forget about starting a new knitting project, and instead, finish your manuscipt!"

Yup, that, too.  : )
