Goodness

My kitchen is stocked with apples, potatoes, onions, pumpkin, squash, cranberries, celery, nuts, flour, sugar, butter, whipping cream, cheese, and milk. There is a twenty-two pound turkey waiting in the fridge; tomorrow evening I'll stuff it with a recipe passed down to me from my mother and grandmother. I plan to spend most of the day baking pies and loaves of spicy pumpkin bread. Everyone in my house is happy and excited for Thanksgiving.

The woods are bare and brown now, the days short and cold. Winter won't officially begin for another month, but I can feel it coming like a cold breath against my neck. Thankfully, I'll soon have a new cowl to warm me. It's knitting up fast, but not fast enough!

I started listening to Christmas carols yesterday. I wish I had started playing them sooner. This season passes far too quickly, and then it's gone.

Lately, I feel that way about everything. I want to hold onto every moment of this life.
