My favorite room in my house is the dining room. It's where we study, take our meals, paint, draw, write, drink tea, and converse:
It's a plain room with plain furnishings. The table is worn. The linen table runner is too. But, it is a southeast facing room, and it gets good sunlight for most of the day.
In the corner there is a small desk and the family computer (it's where I am sitting right now :- ) . On the floor, behind the table, you can see our cat Willow's front leg stretched out. What you can't see is the birdcage on top of the organizing unit to the left of the doorway. The birds fill the room with a happy sound.
The floors are bare right now, but I would like to get some nice new rugs soon.
There on the wall is a large whiteboard, which transforms the dining room into a classroom during the mornings. It's where I write the copywork quote or verse each morning for handwriting practice, and work out difficult math problems, and write questions about history, science, and God.
Do you have a favorite room or space in your home?

What a lovely room! It is so warm and homey but not cluttered or overwhelmed as a classroom can become. One thng I do wonder is how you all fit around the table! :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad your girl is beginning to improve.
For meals, it's a tight fit, and one of us has to pull up a desk chair.
DeleteMy two young men don't study at the table with the girls and me. Seth studies in his room, and Zach works at my antique writing desk.
Thank you for the well-wishes for my Amy--she still does need them.
I also love our dining room. It is where we gather almost every day and it where we celebrate the changing seasons...I hope to log about it soon. I have only been home for one week in the past month and now my computer has quit...sigh.
ReplyDeleteSarah, I remember you posting about your very special dining room table. I love that you have allowed guests to leave their name or sentiments upon it in a permanent way. What a wonderful piece of family history you are creating.
DeleteI am still praying for your family and your in-laws recovery. It must be a very stressful time. Your Valentine's Day post really shook me up--I definitely need to work at the things you mentioned.
How nice to see your home! I like this idea and have been wanting to do a little drawing of our floorplan. This gives me a good excuse. ;-)
ReplyDeleteBrandy, you share such nice photos of your home life on your blog. I am always inspired by your warm and simple lifestyle.
DeleteHow wonderful to see pictures of your home!! I love your room. The light is wonderful. And, of course, any room with books is a room I love!
ReplyDeleteOh, and my favorite room is currently the "formal" living room where I have moved my reading chair to. It gets lots of sun which makes me happy.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite room changes from time to time, too. It's usually the place where I find myself spending the most time doing the things I love. In the summer my favorite room is the pool deck :-)
DeleteMy favorite room is our family room, it's where I knit, sit with the family and I have fantastic views to outside. Love your dining room table :)
ReplyDeleteA favorite room is almost always the placewhere we purse the things we love. One thing that I wish my house had was a nice view. The pictures you take out in your yard are always so beautiful.
